Aim
To demonstrate the force experienced by an electron beam in a magnetic field.
Apparatus
- Evacuated tube as shown
- Bar magnet
- Tesla coil or induction coil

Description
The apparatus consists of an evacuated tube containing an oblique fluorescent screen upon which the path of the beam is clearly visible. When a magnet is brought up to the device the electron beam is deflected.
