Aim
To demonstrate Hertz's apparatus (a full scale model of the original device used for the production and transmission of electromagnetic waves).

Description
The induction coil is connected to Hertz's apparatus which consists of a pair of large square plates separated by a spark gap. The approximate values for L and C in this arrangement yields a resonant frequency of ~ 55MHz lambda=5.4 metres.
The production of electromagnetic waves is demonstrated by the lighting of a fluorescent tube.
