Musical acoustics
Wf-1 Savart's Wheel
Published: Wednesday 15 March 2006
To demonstrate that a musical note has a pitch dependent on the rate at which the ear receives impulses; i.e the pitch of a note is determined by its frequency.
Wf-2 The Fourier Synthesiser
Published: Wednesday 15 March 2006
To demonstrate the basic properties of Fourier synthesis; i.e that any complex repetitive waveform may be synthesised by the addition of pure sinusoidal waves of the appropriate amplitude and phase.
Wf-3 Helmholtz Resonators
Published: Wednesday 15 March 2006
To demonstrate a Helmholtz resonator, i.e. an acoustic device that exhibits mechanical resonance with small damping.
Wf-4 Model of the Human Ear
Published: Wednesday 15 March 2006
Demonstration model of the human ear.
